Understanding FASD: A Neuro-Affirming and Trauma-Informed Approach

9th September 2026

On International FASD Awareness Day, join Family Futures for a free webinar that will help you better understand Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (PAE), and what they may mean for your child and family.

For 28 years, Family Futures has supported children with complex developmental and emotional needs through specialist trauma-informed assessment and therapy. Drawing on our clinical experience and research, we’ll explain how understanding neurodevelopmental differences – not just focusing on the behaviour – can transform the way children with FASD are supported at home, in school and in everyday life.

By the end of the session you’ll:

  • understand how FASD affects a child’s development, learning and emotional regulation
  • recognise why trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approaches work together
  • hear about Family Futures’ latest research into positive outcomes for children with FASD and Prenatal Alcohol Exposure
  • understand what assessment involves and when it may be appropriate
  • gain practical guidance on the types of holistic support that can help children and families thrive

Whether you’re worried about your child and unsure where to turn, or simply looking for a better understanding of FASD, you’ll leave with practical insights and a clearer sense of the support available.

This webinar will be recorded. Please sign up to be notified once the recording is available.
