How to parent as you hope to during the lockdown
Family Futures invited adoptive parents, foster carers and kinship carers to a live online webinar on 18 May with Dr Dan Hughes, founder of DDP. Dan offered parenting ideas to inspire and creative ways to help children (and their parents) experience safety in spite of the anxious times we are living through.
Dan Hughes’ therapeutic model of DDP involves assisting children (and their parents) understand their troubled past while also enhancing their ability to form trusting relationships with their adoptive parents or carers. Parenting skills including PACE (playful, accepting, curious and empathic) will be explored for assisting both children and their parents to experience greater safety during this time of heightened stress when the pressures on the whole family are greater than ever by living in lockdown.
