How to parent during times of anxiety and stress
Recorded on 18 May 2020 with Dr Dan Hughes, founder of DDP, Family Futures invited Dan to offer parenting ideas for parents and carers which would help children experience safety at times of heightened anxiety and stress.
Dan Hughes’ therapeutic model of DDP involves assisting children to understand their troubled past while also enhancing their ability to form trusting relationships with their adoptive parents or carers. Parenting skills including PACE (playful, accepting, curious and empathic) are explored in this webinar to provide creative and inspiring ideas for both children and their parents to experience greater safety when the pressures on the whole family feel intense and stressful. There are references to the Covid lockdown of 2020 but this webinar has relevance today for adoptive, kinship and foster families feeling under pressure or struggling.
