Handwriting Assessment
Purpose
A detailed evaluation of a child or young person's functional writing skills.
What to expect
A 1-hour, in-person session examines pencil grip, legibility (letter formation, spacing, alignment, size), handwriting speed, and underlying visual-motor integration skills, using standardised tools such as the DASH (Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting) and the Beery VMI. You'll receive a follow-up summary report.
Our approach
The results inform clinical reasoning, enabling our Occupational Therapists to recommend support, intervention and therapeutic planning — which may include tailored home/school strategies or a block of six in-person OT sessions.
