An opportunity for young people to learn, think and talk about issues linked to the Black Lives Matter protests and movement – including systemic racism, discrimination and privilege.
We’ll be looking at:
- the different terminology used, how it’s used, and what it means to different people
- Black history in the UK, and how this connects to current events
We’ll be thinking about:
- the impact and use of social media
- ideas on what people can do to support the movement and conversations
Run by experienced therapists who work with young people at Family Futures, the webinar will include watching videos and hearing information about the different topics.
Young people will have the opportunity to share their own experiences, if they feel safe and comfortable to do so, and how they have been impacted.
There will be spaces for smaller group discussions to share and hear one another’s stories.
There will be no expectation to talk, but we will work hard to make sure everyone feels safe and valued.
How will the webinar work?
The webinar will take place as a password protected Zoom session and there will be no recording. Participants will not be expected to be visible on screen. There will be two ten-minute breaks during the webinar.
