Family Futures supports schools in developing teacher understanding of the holistic impact of adverse in-utero experiences and early trauma by delivering training and providing cohesive strategies to use within the education setting.
Adoption matters: A training for virtual schools and designated teachers
Standard Professional, Associate Professional
This course explores the impact of early trauma on the brain and body, and how this influences the child’s presentation within the education setting, ranging from disruptive and acting-out behaviour to compliance and people-pleasing conduct.
It suggests tried and tested strategies for the education setting, for home-school relations and ideas to support parents.
Recognising that virtual schools and designated teachers are often the ‘first call’ for parents, the course looks at home-school communication and suggests ways of supporting these parents in their own understanding of their child.
The course will provide pointers to accessing appropriate support for LAC and adopted children in relation to Education, Health and Care Plans etc.
